THE WEEKENDER'S GUIDE | THE PRISSY CAMPER BLOG

If you’re anything like me, then you’re probably in a constant state of craving those long weekends away from the crazy city life. The destination almost doesn’t even matter and the weather is irrelevant. Enough about me.  If you can relate, wouldn’t you agree that just getting away with your partner or your besties is all that really matters? and wouldn’t you agree that it would make the most sense to pack a highly functional, versatile and fashionable wardrobe for all possible weather conditions.  Right?  Who doesn’t love a good raincoat or sassy little rain booties.  There are so many stylish options available now. Even the umbrellas make a statement. I could literally build an entire outfit around an umbrella with an Ann Sacks motif or trending color.

Here’s what always works for me.  Thought I’d share 🙂  Lightweight down filled  jacket, an all season cashmere scarf, a lightweight sweater, preferably cashmere, a few t-shirts, a ball cap, a rain jacket or poncho, and shoes that can handle a little bit of any forecast.  So, I would suggest you look for natural fiber clothing and accessories,  recycled natural fibers are also nice.  More and more very stylish options are available now.  Check out Ecoalf, Eileen Fisher or Patagonia.  There are more options but those were just at the top of my head.  So, whether you’re exploring a city, a village, a forest or doing something more active like hiking, sailing or enjoying an outdoor music festival, it would be a good idea to go prepared with packable items (which fold up into nothing) which shield you from the elements when needed. Even too much sun isn’t nice after awhile so bring a hat. Here are a few suggestions:

Sun Visor, Ball Cap, Cowboy hat, Safari hat, Beach hat, Rain Forest hat, Unisex Trekking hat

or this, the Perfect Travel Hat

Packing smart is the name of the game. Buy ethically sourced and fairtrade whenever possible.  Organic is a plus and in my humble opinion, a must (most of the time).  Natural Sunscreen which is predominately Zinc Oxide based and Sunnies are must-haves for those scorching days.  With a bit of strategic packing and a flexible attitude, you’ll be ready to handle whatever Mother Nature throws your way and look good doing it.

Weather can be unpredictable, that’s an undenaible truth but that’s what makes each season special, right? The Germans say, “ There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing” Or maybe it was the Danes, either way, it’s so true.  There is so much beauty in every season. Just be prepared and roll with it. Whether you’re enjoying  Autumn in the North East, Europe in the Spring, or skiing the Alps, there’s something beautiful for everyone. Of course, the company you keep accounts for most of your happiness, so get that in order first and then suit up. Pack smartly and have the time of your life.

In the end, your weekend getaways should be all about the recharge, and making memories. So, plan ahead, pack smartly, and embrace Mother Nature. That’s her name for a reason, heed the warnings or suffer the consequences.  Your next adventure awaits – rain or shine, let’s make it unforgettable! xo
